Home Without Borders

Project Status: Under Development and Needs Assessment

About the Project

United Charity Foundation (UCF) is committed to promoting educational opportunities and supporting the well-being of children and young people in vulnerable situations. Through needs assessments, coordination with relevant stakeholders, and the development of context-appropriate support measures, the Foundation seeks to contribute to more equitable access to education and essential resources. The Home Without Borders project aims to assess and develop potential educational support initiatives in temporary shelter areas. Priority areas under consideration include books and learning materials, teaching and learning equipment, food and essential supplies for boarding students, and support for children with special educational or other specific support needs. Any future activities will be based on verified needs and will be subject to applicable laws, regulations, and the necessary authorization from relevant authorities.

Field Assessment

On 28 August 2026, UCF conducted a field visit and held preliminary discussions with the Karenni Education Department (KnED) and the temporary shelter committee to better understand the educational situation and potential areas of support.

Preliminary information indicates that the area has approximately 8 schools, 152 teachers, and 2,200–2,300 students, ranging from kindergarten to upper secondary level. These figures have not yet been formally verified and are subject to written confirmation from the relevant schools or responsible authorities, with a clearly specified reference date.

The field visit and discussions were preliminary information-gathering activities. They did not constitute a formal agreement to implement the project or authorization from government authorities for UCF to conduct activities in the area.

Our Approach

UCF is committed to responsible, transparent, and needs-based support. The Foundation aims to reduce duplication of assistance, use resources effectively, and safeguard the safety, privacy, dignity, and best interests of children and young people.

Data Note: The figures for schools, teachers, students, boarding students, and children with specific support needs are preliminary and must be confirmed by the relevant institutions before being used for project planning or budgeting. The groups of approximately 40 boarding students and approximately 40 children with specific support needs may overlap. Their numbers should not be added together to calculate the total number of beneficiaries without further verification.
